BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02186 ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA   DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 2008  ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME   HEAVY RAIN DURING TUESDAY'S STORM TOTAL RAINFALL 2.21 INCHES FELL IN 17 HOURS PEAK WIND GUSTS REACHED 44 MPH FROM THE EAST   Yesterday's heavy rainstorm included many hours of moderate rain with some downpours mixed in during both the morning and mid-afternoon. Two hours had the maximum amounts of 0.25 inch, one in the late morning and another at mid-afternoon.  The entire rain event occurred between 1 a.m. and a little past 5 p.m.   The monthly total rainfall of 4.40 inches is now above the normal for November after running below normal all month.  Peak wind gusts reached 40 to 44 MPH from the east and southeast during the morning and the peak hourly average was 27 MPH from the east during the early morning.      Ponkapoag Pond which had frozen over on 24 November was partilly thawed with 0.8 ice cover remaining this morning.   Today's observations:   7 A.M.
