BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02186 ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA   DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY MONDAY, JULY 28, 2008     ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME UNLESS NOTED    JULY RAINFALL TOTAL NOW ALMOST 6 INCHES AFTER A NINTH DAY OF THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY THIS MONTH YESTERDAY   After a quiet weather day on Saturday, thunderstorms arrived again for the 9th day this month starting early Sunday morning and then again during the late afternoon and early evening. An squall line,  which moved over us during the late afternoon brought peak wind gusts to 43 mph WSW at 4:40 p.m. and also included a fastest mile of 33 MPH WSW at 4:39 p.m.   Rainfall of 0.23 inch from the early morning thunderstorm combined with another 0.43 inch during the afternoon storms to push the July total up to 5.85 inches.   While the rainfall and thunder generally ended between 7 and 9 p.m. EDT last evening, distant thunder could still be heard rumbling in the clouds to the southeast from our Hingham weather station as late as 10:30 p.m.   Today's observations:   8 A.M.
