EDT. A high pressure system built up overnight bringing cooler temperatures and mainly scattered fair weather cumulus clouds throughout Tuesday morning and early afternoon. Showers and thunderstorms passed by to our north and to our south yesterday afternoon leaving us with only 0.01 inch of rainfall for the day which actually occurred during the early morning hours. The afternoon brought only some sprinkles with the distant thunder. The August rainfall is now well over one inch below normal. As of yesterday, the average wind speed for the month was 9.9 MPH.
