A thunderstorm occurred at the Observatory on Friday afternoon between 4:15 and 6:30 PM (EDT) bringing another 0.64 inche of precipitation. Nearly 0.5 of rain fell in the hour ending at 6 PM (EDT). This new rain brings the monthly total to 10.10 inches. This is not only a new record for May, but it breaks the previous record by more than an inch and is the first time that any May has exceeded ten inches. The dew point has risen to the low to mid 60s today, which may fuel additional showers this afternoon. Warm to hot temperatures are expected for the next two days. Today's observations: 7 A.M.
