Another period of moderate to heavy rain on Saturday night brought 1.17 inches of rainfall through 8 AM EDT to the Observatory. Thunderstorms were reported at several surrounding stations during last night. There has been an additional 0.03 inch of rain for the six hours ending 2 PM EDT today. This has raised the monthly total to 11.58 inches, which makes this month the second wettest October on record behind only 11.76 inches in 1996. It is also now the tenth wettest for any month of the year with one week left to go in the month. The relatively warm temperatures also continue, and the lowest temperature so far this season of 39 is the highest on record for this late in the season.
