BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02186 ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY TUESDAY, JUNE 14, 2005 ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME [unless otherwise noted] Today's discussion at 2 p.m. LONG STRETCH OF VERY WARM HUMID WEATHER COMES TO AN END TODAY... A back-door cold frontal passage (came from northeast rather than west or northwest) brought a steady drop in temperature from a high of 80.5 degrees at 9:28 a.m. Skies were threatening and showers occurred to our north and northeast and developed to our south and southeast but just a few drops fell here at Blue Hill. So, the month-long dry spell is continuing with just a half inch of rainfall to date. The month is more than one inch drier than normal. Yesterday's record setting warm low temp. of 71 degrees beat the previous record of 70 degrees for June 13 set way back in 1892. Just a trace of rain occurred yesterday and the high temperature was 89 degrees during the afternoon. This equaled the 89 set back on June 8th. Today's frontal passage puts an end to an unusually long early season spell of very warm and humid weather which began last Friday, June 10. Dewpoints reached opressively high readings of 70 to 74 degrees with more than several hours recorded in the mid-70's especially on Sunday. June is now averaging 7 degrees warmer than normal daily.
