Thunderstorms in the area last evening were not severe here, but brought 0.49 inch of rainfall between 5:35 and 6:35 PM EDT most of which fell in about 35 minutes. The peak gust for Friday was 51 mph WSW at 5:51 PM EDT. There was also a rapid drop in temperature of about 25 degrees (93 to 68) over two hours between 4:10 and 6:10 PM EDT, which included a drop of about 8 degrees in the 20 minutes ending at 6 PM. The high for Friday of 95 ties the highest temperature measured so far this year with the 95 on June 26. This is not a record for August 5th, which remains 98 in 1955, but it is the second highest temperature recorded on this date on our 121-year climate record. Today's observations: 7 A.M.
