BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02186 ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY SATURDAY, AUGUST 7, 2004 ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME [unless otherwise noted] BEAUTIFUL SUMMER WEATHER THIS WEEKEND... NEW RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE OF 51 SET THIS MORNING... Much drier air has settled over New England, replacing the warm and humid weather from last week. A clear sky at sunrise is filling with building cumulus and mid-level clouds at mid-day with the heating of the sun. The dew point has remained around 50 degrees since yesterday. The morning low of 51 has set a new record low temperature for August 7, breaking the previous 52 set in 1950 and 1964. This was the highest daily record for any day in August, and the new record retains this distinction. It is also the first record low temperature since mid-January. The cool weather has turned the monthly temperature departure negative, so August is now averaging slightly cooler than normal. Today's observations: 8 A.M.
