BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02186 MONDAY JUNE 23 2003 SPRECIAL REPORT... WEEK-END RAINFALL TOTAL 1.90 INS. TEMPERATURES FOR JUNE NOW AVERAGE 4.5 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL... SUNSHINE FOR JUNE NOW ONLY 35% OF POSSIBLE... The rainfall total for the event that began Saturday afternoon and ended early this Monday morning totaled 1.90 inches in the standard rain gage and 1.76 inches for the ASOS tipping bucket. Yesterday's rainfall for the calendar day of about 1.45 inches was not a record for the date. This brings the June total to 5.60 inches or 2.81 inches more than normal through June 22nd. The total for the year has now reached 29.73 or 6.12 inches above normal to date. Three seperate thunderstorms were reported here yesterday. The day's high and low for June 22nd was 56/54 (no records set) with mean of 55 the day was 12 degrees COOLER than normal. This brings the total departure for June to a minus 95 degrees so the month is averaging 4.5 degrees cooler than normal daily. This is the biggest negative departure I've ever seen for a summer month! Sunshine is again way below normal at 35% for June following the May's very low 35%.
