BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02186 SUNDAY OCTOBER 27 2002 DISCUSSION FOR 10/27/2002 10 A.M. The heavy rain that we received yesterday has pushed us above normal with respect to precipitation for the month of October. As of 7 A.M. this morning, we were 0.37 inches above normal for the month. Our precipitation total for our last rain event was 1.65 inches, which was 0.14 inches less than the record set in 1886. Even though we had such a potent rain event yesterday, wind gusts were not that intense. The peak gust yesterday here at BHO was 32 MPH out of the NW. However, winds still remain strong as the wind speed almost remains constant at around 20 MPH. Skies are clearing nicely this morning as the stubborn stratocumulus is giving way to blue sky. Visibility has increased to 60 miles this morning and will increase as the day goes on. We probably won't see the Monadnock's clearly today, but tomorrow may be a different story.
